Start of Something New

I’ll keep it brief.

When I was writing the previous post, I was confident enough in what I was going to announce. Due to personal circumstances I am no longer able to update Jukebox as I was doing before. I thought it would be better to shut down the entire site, rather than let it be frozen as if it was forgotten.

I read all the comments, of course, and I understand that there are a lot of people that want to see this site running. So, what has happened since Finale was posted: two Jukebox’s life-long supporters joined me, and they will be responsible for updates to the collection. I will be in charge of maintenance.

We are back in business. Updates will follow shortly.

Finale

The idea of Jukebox has emerged from the desire to help those people around the world who are interested in this amazing world of musicals, but, unfortunately, there were no enough productions or cast albums available for purchase around.

Years ago, I launched this site as an experiment, and understood very soon that there was unsatisfied need for what I was doing.

I am deeply convinced that Jukebox has contributed a lot to popularity of musicals all over the world. Though there has always been controversy about Jukebox, I kept it running, because I was sure that this site was a single opportunity for many people to listen to cast albums.

Now I feel that it’s time for a final scene. It is extremely sad to say, but I’m completely stopping updating Jukebox from now on. The entire collection will be still available for some time, but eventually the site will be shut down.

Let me use this opportunity to thank once again all those wonderful people, who helped me with the site and contributed to the collection. During all these years, I was receiving hundreds of e-mails and even several parcels from different parts of the planet. I’d also like to thank all those people, who supported Jukebox by just visiting it, posting comments, sharing links, etc. This would’ve never possible without you.

This is it.

700!

With the last five Russian Cast albums of world famous musicals added Jukebox hits 700 albums target! Do you think we can do 1000 some day?

Corrupted zip folders

Our visitors have been reporting corrupted archives problem for past two or three months. We have discussed these issues with the hosting company. The investigation conducted by the company shows that there’s only one archive from the entire Jukebox collection that is corrupted and, therefore, can’t be decompressed. As for today, we can’t replace the zip folder with the working one as we don’t have the original tracks on the local machine.

Not all of our visitors face the corrupted zip folders problem. As the investigation still goes on, the only solution we can offer, for now, is to try to re-download the file. This usually helps. Those visitors who face the problem can help us to resolve the issue. We kindly ask you, once you’ve downloaded zip folder and found out that it can’t be decompressed, please, upload it to the testing server, so that support team of the hosting company can compare this file with that on our server.
