Next to Normal has been awarded the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The award, to be presented to Tom Kitt (music) and Brian Yorkey (book and lyrics) was declared the winner over three finalists by the Pulitzer board, which cited the show as “a powerful rock musical that grapples with mental illness in a suburban family and expands the scope of subject matter for musicals.”
